Lindores Abbey Whisky
Where do you start when given the brief to design a completely new whisky for the official "home of whisky", Lindores Abbey. According to the Exchequer Rolls of 1494, Friar John Cor bought malt and barley to distill aqua vitae for a visit by the King to nearby Falkland Palace, and so was born Scotch Whisky.
Now 500 years later, the present owner of Lindores Abbey approached us to develop a brand that could be sold as a limited edition premium whisky, so reintroducing the name to a new public. The whole branding concept was based on the original feel of Friar John, with a typeface reminiscent of that used in the Exchequer Rolls and the hand-made wooden box lined with sack-cloth.
For this work, we won a prestigious Wine and Spirit International Medal.
"With the history behind Lindores Abbey Whisky it would have been all to easy to go down the tried and tested "Hills and Glens" route, but Zero Design came up with a modern, fresh design, for the web site, literature and packaging which to me encapsulates exactly what Lindores Abbey Whisky is all about".
