Bank of Scotland

Premierleague

Zero were asked to develop a new brand that would both represent the Scottish Premierleague, and also the Bank of Scotland in equal measures.

The Bank of Scotland had been sponsoring the SPL for a number of years prior to developing it as a brand, and as there was no consistant publicity for the bank, they felt they were getting nothing back from their contribution.

Zero were approached to create an identity that would both encompass the Bank of Scotland branding, and fit in with their guidelines, but also be completely football integrated.

We decided at an early stage that the brand should be a ‘badge’, i.e. in a carrier shape as it would need to be flexible enough to be used in every form from embroidery to TV. It would also need to be recognisable from a distance.

From inception, the badge has achieved all it set out to do. It features on every premierleague shirt, on the TV, at the cup final, on all sponsorship advertising, and has raised public awareness of the Bank of Scotland sponsorship by an an almost immeasurable level. The badge is now synonymous with Scottish Football.
